The methods of teaching specific to the IEMI are very varied. Each subject is covered according to the method which is considered to be most effective; case discussions, technical notes, conferences, debates, coaching, computer aided simulations, Intranet-Internet, Online Courses. The diversity of the students constitutes an essential factor to the learning experience and the methods largely call upon group work and the interaction of the students.

GROUPWORK :
The students are divided into sections and workgroups. Each group is composed of six to eight members of diverse nationality, age, experience and education. The effective functioning of the group in the preparation of the work and production of reports and presentations, depends on the capacity of the members to resolve the conflicts that such heterogeneity does not fail to create. The students are forced to express themselves clearly and rationally, to accept the attitudes and opinions of the other students in their conclusions and their analyses and recommendations of action for the case studies. This framework constitutes an essential training to become in the future an effective member of a team of top executives and international leaders.
INDIVIDUAL PREPARATION, PARTICIPATION IN INDIVIDUAL COURSES:
The students devote a great part of their time of individual study of the subjects suggested in preparation of the group and classroom discussions. The courses given in English or French proceed by section under the control of a professor. Often a discussion is raised during which the students are encouraged to express their point of view. The individual study of many problems in companies, along with the variety of opinions resulting from the group and classroom discussions, leads to an education often nearer to the real experience of businesses than that obtained by a traditional formation. It should however be stressed that the analysis of a very broad range of problems of companies, can in no way replace the ands-on experience of businesses, which is essential to ascend to the highest levels of a company. It permits a young manager to acquire, better than they would have done only in the company or at the university, a superior comprehension and a more global view of the problems.
COACHING
:
At IEMI, we believe that helping the students manage their career and develop their personality, is an essential part of the MBA program. During their course the students are assisted by coaches specialized in personal development and group dynamics. Their goals are to identify the best adapted careers and to define professional goals ; to establish career plans ; to help with the development of the CV and cover letters ; to prepare with interviews ; to work out a plan of personal development ; to optimize the personal and interpersonal potential. EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCES:
The students are subjected to an intensive rhythm of work and must reach the minimum level of required performance, defined in a document given at the beginning of the program. Their performance of the students is evaluated in a standard manner, at the end of each period of courses with the following objectives: to give each student the possibility of controlling their own situation, to identify the students whose academic results are insufficient. The Evaluation Committee reserves the right to ask an unmotivated and undisciplined student to withdraw from the program.
